Being a Snowflake with Dan McGaw from Effin Amazing [#AtomicFeature:018]

Do you believe your content is effective?

Have you figured out your winning recipe?

According to one of our most unique content marketing influencers, Dan McGaw, you cannot be a snowflake and win at content marketing.

He has led teams at Kissmetrics and CodeSchool and is now the founder and CEO of Effin Amazing.

Check out his insights below:

1. What are the elements of a successful Content Marketing program?

The most important elements are:

  1. Story
  2. Distribution
  3. Repurposing
2. What are the most common mistakes you have noticed marketers make with their Content Marketing?

They try to just put out content and don't worry about the story they are telling.

Nor do they focus on the distribution of the post.

Also, many times marketers make content in a wasteful way.

One webinar for us is also repurposed into 2-3 blog posts, an e-book and all sorts of other tidbits.

3. What is your favourite content marketing tool (or hack or resource)?

Content repurposing is by far my favourite hack.

This webinar became this blog post and became this e-book.

4. What are your predictions for Content Marketing in 2019 and beyond?

More people will fail than last year.

The people who get it right will automate their funnels more.

Lead generation will start to move away from email and to mobile phone numbers.

5. How will AI or Machine Learning impact Content Marketing?

It will still be the buzz word that all the content marketers write about but have no idea how to use it or put it into play.

6. What advice would you give to a Content Marketing newbie?

You are not special, and you can't be a snowflake if you want to win at this game.

SEO, link backs and distribution are what you need to start learning today.

Read the book "trust me, I am lying" and you will understand the game.

Make sure the content is good, you read it out loud and it tells a story.
