Stick To Your Blogging Schedule With 3 Easy Tweaks To Your Life

There are hundreds of articles on the topic of coming up with, and sticking to a blogging schedule. There are the usual tips, from keeping a planner to map out every activity of your week, to designating a specific block of time every day to writing. Without setting up the right environment and head space for yourself, all the planners in the world will not help you stick to your schedule. That is why we will focus on a few extra tips that will help you achieve the right frame of mind to tackle your new schedule.

TIP #1- Sleep Tight

It seems obvious, but this is a huge issue for writers around the world. A lot of us are night owls, and some will work straight through the night into the wee hours of the morning. Furiously typing on your laptop at 2am is not the best approach as it turns out.

According to a paper written by Matthew Walker of Helen Wills Neuroscience Institute in Berkeley, California, studies have shown time and again that regular and consistent REM sleep provides optimal results in the way of creativity and focus. Thus, getting to bed on time and for an adequate period means less time procrastinating and being easily distracted.

TIP #2- Safe Space

It is not only what you do, it is also where you do it. As writers, it should come as no surprise that a stress-free workspace is key to producing your best work. Not only do you not want people constantly coming in and out, but you also need the space itself set up as engaging and efficiently as possible.

If you work from home, pick a space that takes you away from the stresses of the house and make it your oasis. Paint the walls a fun color and add artwork, music or anything that inspires you. When the words come easily it is no longer a chore to stick to your schedule, but a pleasure.

TIP #3- Blood Pumping

We have all heard how much better we would all feel if we would be more active and exercise more. This is true, but exercise is as good for business and sticking to your schedule, as it is for health alone. Studies have proven a direct link between how we manage our time, stress and lives with how we sleep.

A study published in the British Journal of Sports Medicine by the University of British Columbia found that people who get their heart rate up to an aerobic workout level regularly had much better memory and increased learning abilities. Basically, getting a good sweat on will not only make your jeans fit better, but will also lift the brain fog allowing you better memory and cognition to work and stick to your schedule.

It is easy to think that all we have to do is simply will ourselves into a new schedule, and expect that it will stick. The truth of the matter is, however, that there are biological factors at play. Taking care of yourself is the best way to stick to your schedule.

A healthy body leads to a healthy mind. In turn, a healthy mind leads to productive work from a writer as it is all interconnected. Everything coalesces into beautiful harmony, and it all begins with three simple steps.
